Ok, my friend Jahn has been working on Shantotto expansion. He has a bit of a irritating problem. quoted from his Alla post:

"I have killed all 6 Notorious Monsters for "Shantotto in Chains"
When I killed them, I was sure I saw all key items show up, but temporary key items only show 5 items, and the door is refusing to open.
Luminous red fragment
Luminous beige fragment
Luminous green fragment
Luminous yellow fragment
Luminous purple fragment

Which fragment am I missing, and what NM does it drop from?

Additional note: I killed all 6 NMs again, this time none of them gave me key item."

Ok. He's been trying to ask people "Which one?" and asking people which key item for which nm, but no one's been answering. Can someone answer the question? I've been helping when I can on my smn, but this is irritating (not to mention hard on my buffer; got linked on with two nms and had to hp once, I just barely recapped smn)

Also for ref; I'm not the one with the miniexpansion, YET. He is.

[Edit] Nevermind, he found out. It was one in Fey-yin, he forgets which :) at least it had a happy ending!

Barfira!

  • Nov. 9th, 2009 at 9:36 PM
This has recently come up again in a surprisingly heated debate, and I was wondering if anyone could point me to definitive testing one way or the other:

Does Barfire affect Mijin Gakure?

I always thought it did not, that it was "special" damage and not fire based.

I've got some people telling me I am wrong.

At question is specific testing proving this one way or the other (as opposed to anecdotal evidence.)

Point me in the right direction so I can better my opinion and/or rub my correctness in their face.

Quick SMN patch test.

Diabolos gives:
0:00 1 MP/tick
0:30 2 MP/tick
1:05 3 MP/tick

Diabolos won't drain your MP anymore if you at least have:
- Pluto's Staff
- Vermillion Cloak / Yinyang Robe / Dalmatica / Austere Robe
- Nashira Gages
- Evoker's Ring
- Evoker's Pigaches +1

Carbuncle gives max 12hp/tick.
Titan gives max 57 defense.

Carbuncle Mitts don't work anymore, hopefully bugfix for that soon. D:

Doing Bloodpact: Rage while ability is active still does some proper damage, 1083 on Simurgh with Flaming Crush. No idea how much it would do without Avatar's Favor activated though.

When you have the ability at max effectiveness (3MP/tick for example) and you do a Bloodpact: Rage it'll go back to a weaker state (2MP/tick).

Netherblast on Death Wasp with Avatar's Favor: 431
Netherblast on Death Wasp without Avatar's Favor: 508
So bloodpacts probably do about 85% of the damage they normally inflict, not bad at all. :3

You need to be within 10' distance from the avatar in order to get their buff.

NOTE: I haven't taken Summoning Skill in account for these tests. It was tested with only 258.

-I'll edit this post when I test more.

Or any of the other cool weapon/armor/synthesis adjustments coming along with this update?
I just hope it's not lackluster like some of the previous augment updates have been >.>

Just did DM with a group and after a rough start and a re-enter we kicked ASS.

Suppanomimi mine! Finally! WoooooooO!
So Im starting to do more of my adventures here on LJ rather than blogspot. I cant keep toggling. So if you're interested, let me know! I'll start trying to watch more people too as this community seems to have less and less stories... I like hearing about adventures and what people do :D

warning though, I will be seperating my RL posts from my FFXI posts as much as I can. I am just starting to overhaul my LJ, so bare with me ^^; But thanks to all who are interested/want to watch me/want me to watch them back! :D

Now on to my real question..........

The more Im thinking about it, I REALLY need a DD job. I keep doing jobs that people need................... which ISNT DD USUALLY FOR MY GROUP :X But... I should level one none the less. BST doesnt really cut it there, and BLM IS a DD and all but... its more of a solo. Im totally not gonna get parties for it >.>;; unless its burns... which yeah fine and all but again.

This is what I have so far:
BLM RDM WHM BST75, NIN50, PLD45, SMN45........................

Im a magey, like hard core, or some kind of back up job :X PLD will be taken to 75 first before I take up anything else, HOWEVER.

YEAH.

SUGGESTIONS?!

We have enough SAM in our group too BTW and I wanna try something different...
But my question then is... yeah. Whats a different kinda DD job that will completely rip me out of my "I NEED TO BACK UP HEAL PEOPLE OR SOMETHING" mode?

Im kinda toggling on DRG and DRK......
DRK cause I have most of the skills from BLM (magic) and BST (weapons and skills)
DRG cause... great for merit parties.... and I love pet jobs.......

OK SHUTTING UP SUGGESTIONS?!?!?!!

This is your chance to support Miyavi with a 5-10 second message. Picture, video, audio or just text!

So Dear Miyavi fans, I ask for a second of your lj'ing time to read about this upcoming fanproject~

CoMiyaviWW are now gathering messages from all fans worldwide to make a video project that will be sent to Miyavi! Last time this was done, the video was successfully sent to Miyavi and he watched it and thanked his fans in his blog. This time, the reason behind this project is simply to try and cheer him up after the injuries and postponing of his tour. A short message can bring a long lasting smile!

Figured I'd introduce myself before replying to existing posts.  Just started playing FFXI - Tarutaru: Red Mage on Fenrir - and I'm loving the game.  It's interesting following some of the posts from experienced players as I'm still etching out an existence at level 18.  Anyway, looking forward to enjoying the posts of this community.

Cheers,

Typically, many users of the Xbox 360 version of FINAL FANTASY XI will shut down the game via the "Xbox Guide Button" located on the controller. However, we have confirmed an issue where if you attempt to shut down via the "Xbox Guide Button" while the PlayOnline Viewer and/or FINAL FANTASY XI is running, it may cause the Xbox 360 to not be able to properly read the disc.

Until this issue is addressed, we ask that you shut down the PlayOnline Viewer through the "Exit Viewer" option and FINAL FANTASY XI through the "Shut Down" option in-game.

For users who are experiencing the issue, please contact Xbox Support for assistance.

3rd Week In a Row

  • Nov. 2nd, 2009 at 12:28 AM
Don't know what's going on, but Sandy got Gustberg for the 3rd week in a row.

But Windy refuses to get Dunes, Qufim or Elshimo Uplands.

Plus I got my 1st piece of Relic armor today!!!
I got H1N1 (or one of its close relatives) on Monday and am finally recuperating, though I'm still coughing like a miserable old man. I forgot how much fun running a high fever is; thinking I'd feel better if I got some fresh air, I took the El to campus on Wednesday to drop something off for a class and decided I'd just walk the ten blocks home to my apartment and it nearly killed me. I spent the rest of the day in a 103°F feverish delirium almost drifting outside myself, hot/cold/hot/cold and drenched in sweat until I decided to put myself out of my misery and took some NyQuil for its sledgehammer knockout effect. I've been doing better since, at least, but I'm still rather full of snot. YOU MAY THINK IT'S FUNNY, BUT IT'S SNOT. snot snot snot snot snot

So there was no costumed mischief for me on Halloween (eeeeeeeeeen) but my dear also-infected Keren and I had an impromptu Creepy Spanish Film marathon! We watched The Orphanage and Pan's Labyrinth while nomming on Skittles and very romantically hacking phlegm all over each other
I wore my Rilakkuma suit.

/sea all linkshell

  • Oct. 29th, 2009 at 6:56 PM
So tonight at dynamis we all learned about the /sea all linkshell +job command, which we uh, didn't know existed apparently. This is kind of like the day I found the /rmap command and wanted to know why no one told me about it three years ago when I started playing. But now my question is... why does COR get sorted between WAR and WHM? XD Everything else is alphabetical...

(One of the LS mates told me it was obvious: Because pirates can't spell.)
